JOB DESCRIPTION
Exovera (an SOS International LLC company), is seeking a News Desk Media Analyst (Global) to join our team. Exovera provides a range of media monitoring and analysis services for public and private customers, including around-the-world and around-the-clock media alerts, ongoing media monitoring and situational awareness reporting, Exovera Narratives analytics, and expert media analysis. The winning candidate will be an outstanding and swift writer with an analytic mind and a sophisticated understanding of international affairs and global current events. We are looking for some proven experience in high-pace fields such as international affairs, journalism, strategic communications, intelligence, international development, political consulting, and the like. Leadership skills, familiarity with social media, information technology, analytics, and additional language fluency are major advantages. The Media Analyst is part of a team working 24/7 and must be willing and able to work an unconventional schedule, including some overnight and weekend shifts. Shift work will include monitoring local, regional, and international print, broadcast, and social media sources. Synopses of appropriate news items and reports will be sent alerts and analytic briefings sent to appropriate customer lists. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: 

• Monitors news wires and other traditional and non-traditional international new sources, selects and assesses information according to both set and dynamic criteria 
• Writes brief and succinct analytic overviews highlighting and assessing key information 
• Contributes original analysis pieces on U.S. and non-U.S. media content and coverage 
• Distributes relevant stories and reports to customers, including high-level U.S. government officials 
• Edits the work of colleagues ahead of publication 
• Interacts with a range of online tools, including media aggregators, social media applications, computer analysis systems and databases 
• Updates databases and web-based portals on a daily basis 
• Responds to customer inquiries and correspondence

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline such as International Relations, Political Science, Journalism, History, Sociology, or similar relevant field 
• Strong interest and knowledge of global current events 
• Ability to quickly process and organize large amounts of information and identify and assess items of greatest importance
• Proven skill and experience (at least 2 years) in professional writing and sophisticated analysis 
• Relevant monitoring and analysis experience, and skill at objective analysis 
• Comfort and experience disseminating information in a fast-paced environment 
• Understanding of norms regarding effective use of social media 
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills 
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 
• Ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize projects 
• Demonstrated comfort with information technology and multimedia software, including publishing and analytics tools 
• Maturity, honesty, and integrity 
• Ability/flexibility and temperament to work long hours on occasion and potentially on short notice 

 
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Native fluency in another meta language, such as Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, Russian is a plus, but other languages are acceptable 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Requires commitment, flexibility and ability to work non-traditional hours including shifts of various lengths and nights and weekends when necessary 
• Offers a collegial atmosphere along with some schedule flexibility, including the possibility of occasional remote work
