The Senior Accounting Manager will lead the Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) departments in our corporate office in Reston, VA. Other duties include development and oversight of accounting policies and procedures, audit support, developing metrics and accounting controls, as well as supporting senior Finance team with reporting and financial closing duties.  The ideal candidate will have senior level experience managing AP/AR teams in large government contracting companies.


  • Manages the accuracy and productivity of day to day activities of AP/AR teams.
  • Reviews project set-ups in Costpoint
  • Assists DCAA billing audits and may assist in contract close-out activities
  • Develops methods to automate billing and time reporting processes
  • Assist with analyzing of unbilled revenue and revenue recognition
  • Lead implementation of best practice processes in Accounting and Finance department, especially Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
  • Analyzes and interprets financial data and recommends changes to improve systems and financial performance.
  • Participates in projects performed by the Accounting Department.
  • Identifies potential problems or areas for improvement and provides solutions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting/Finance/Business required); or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years’ of accounting experience in the government contracting space.
  • Proven experience managing Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams with a large government contractor.
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Prior experience in U.S. Government contracting environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize multiple on-going projects in a fast paced environment
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite applications
  • Working knowledge of Deltek CostPoint accounting software

Work Environment

  • Normal office working conditions.
  • May require ability to lift/and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
