JOB DESCRIPTION
STG, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SOS International LLC (SOSi) has an immediate opportunity as a Technical Writer located in Arlington Virginia. This position will support Department of Homeland Security, which provides cutting edge Cyber, Information Assurance and Security Services.

The selected applicant will become part of the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT), responsible for analyzing and reducing cyber threats and vulnerabilities, disseminating cyber threat warning information, and coordinating incident response activities. US-CERT provides advanced network and digital media analysis expertise and defends against malicious activity targeting networks within the United States and abroad.

The Technical Writer/Editor will function Function as a communications and information specialist, preparing material for publications and other media internally and externally. 

  • Coordinate publications and other collateral material using both print and electronic media including the web and desktop publishing software to draft, edit, and lay out material for distribution.
  • Function as a communications and information specialist, preparing material for publications and other media internally and externally.
  • Responsible for final reviews of proposed publications for style, design, layout, and editorial aspects before government approval.
  • Research, analyze, and perform technical review on triage of questions, issues, or events involving the nation's critical communications infrastructure.  
  • Gather necessary information from Program personnel, other DHS employees, and applicable policy, regulations, and best practices to support the Government in developing, writing, formatting, and editing technical and non-technical information for reports, manuals, procedures, processes, briefs, and other forms of documentation.
  • Provide technical and editorial document review and written feedback and expert opinion on draft cyber/infrastructure security information documents.
  • Develops and maintains operational procedures documents, testing and certification of government and contractor operations personnel, and maintains training records.
  • Draft, coordinate, and implement updates to maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to carry out detailed customer functions.
  • Maintain contact information and distribution lists; manage alerting capabilities; scheduling visits, tours, and facilities; ensure awareness and compliance with DHS.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Security Clearance: Active Top Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain an SCI.  In addition, selected candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a favorably adjudicated DHS background investigation (EOD) for continued employment.

Education: Bachelors Degree in a related field

Certifications: None

This position may be filled at multiple grades based on experience:  Minimum of 2 years related experience for a level 2 role, minimum of 5 years related technical for a level 3 role, minimum of 9 years related technical for a level 4 role, or minimum of 15 years related experience for a level 5 role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

DHS EOD at the SCI level preferred.

Cyber security/IT security professional writing experience desired.

Department of Homeland Security experience desired.
