SOS International LLC (SOSi), is seeking an experienced Korean Linguist to provide on-site interpretation and translation services supporting one of our Government customers overseas.

  • Prepare idiomatically correct and technically accurate translations of critical, sensitive, and unformatted material; material will be written by and for subject matter experts on a wide range of highly complex scientific, technical, and military subjects
  • Write and speak in clear, concise grammar and pronunciation in Korean and English
  • Demonstrate in depth familiarity with the culture, economics, history, and societal aspects of Korea.
  • Conduct consecutive, accurate translations and summaries of material
  • Provide idiomatic translations of non-technical material using correct syntax and expression to and from the target language and English
  • Read and translate handwritten material
  • Scan and process material, utilizing the target language for critical and essential elements of information
  • Tailor language to fit audience
  • Counsel, persuade, negotiate, and represent a point of view
  • Conduct interpretation simultaneous, consecutive, escort, telephonic, and/or voiceover

  • Must possess a current TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph
  • Fluency and literacy in Korean and English with the ability to score at least 3 on the Interagency Language Round table (ILR) scale for English and Korean in Listening, Reading, and speaking.
  • Understands both the American and Korean cultures
  • Understands speech (in a standard dialect), inferences, and emotional overtones and rarely needs to ask for paraphrasing or explanation
  • Writes effectively in most formal and informal exchanges
  • Understands all styles/forms of speech and has a strong sensitivity to social linguistic and cultural references
  • Able to deal unobtrusively with the local populace
  • Familiarity with and ability to conduct oneself in accordance with the local culture and customs
  • Works cooperatively with U.S. Forces, and other Coalition forces and personnel
  • Functions during a level of heightened state of threat, during extended periods of high pressure and stress
  • Able to use Microsoft Office




  • Work environment is normal for office setting and deployed operations.
