JOB DESCRIPTION

SOSi is seeking a Firefighter for our current contract located on Camp Taji, Iraq. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
  • Responsible for promoting fire safety and enforces fire safety standards by acting and advising on all matters relating to the protection of life and property from fire and other risks
  • Responds to fire alarms and emergencies and takes action to prevent bodily injury and damage to assets
  • Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multi-storied buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities 
  • Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities
  • Performs hazard and risk assessment and conducts a complete incident analysis
  • Drives and operates firefighting vehicles, such as pumpers, aerial ladder trucks, and Airport Rescue Fire Fighting (ARFF) vehicles
  • Performs crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great
  • Initiates established medical protocols in providing basic life support
  • Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and perform work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment 
  • Performs basic first aid and First Responder duties as a part of basic life support initial response
  • Performs Fire Prevention/Suppression/Protection Services and Activities including inspections
  • Performs other duties as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Three or more years’ of experience working in Fire and Emergency Services
  • Experience in the Middle East and/or Central Asia, in places such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Djibouti, Kuwait, Bahrain and others is preferred
  • Possess a High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Current valid driver’s license
  • Must have NFPA or other commercial firefighter equivalent certification for the following certification levels: Firefighter I and/or II level certification, Apparatus Driver/Operator for Pumper and ARFF vehicles, Aerials/Tillers and Airport Firefighter
  • Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations Certification
  • Current CPR card (American Heart or Red Cross); must have experience in and be trained and/or certified in the performance of basic emergency medical technician (EMT) duties
  • Ability to meet certain pre-deployment medical/dental screening requirements
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English at a professional level

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluency in a foreign language

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Willingness to live and work under environmental and other conditions that may be uncomfortable at times
  • Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
  • Requires periods of non-traditional hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary 
  • May require ability to lift/and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
