SOSi is seeking a Waste Management Helper for our current contract located on Camp Taji, Iraq.


Take orders from supervisors to determine which truck and areas have been assigned for garbage and waste pickup tasks
Assist waste collection truck drivers in mapping proper routes using the standard maps
Navigate short and safe ways to destinations, ensuring that timeliness is kept a priority
Empty trash cans into the garbage truck and waste water tank, ensuring that all receptacles are placed back in their proper areas
Ascertain that no garbage container block the main entrance to the billeting, or pods and walk ways
Navigate way to the garbage disposal areas, assigned by supervisors, and ensure that garbage correctly puts away
Perform cleaning and sanitation of Portable Latrines in accordance to applicable standards
Updates cleaning logs and the service list and ensuring that timeliness adhered to
Provide customers with information and education on proper methods and techniques to handle waste disposal
Ascertain that proper safety gear is donned, to avoid sicknesses and contamination
Create and maintain effective liaison with dispatch team, providing status updates throughout the day
Work with supervisors to provide on the job training to newly hired truck drivers and helpers, as part of their training initiatives
Keeping statistical records and preparing reports by completing the required documents daily to be submitted to the waste supervisor
Ensuring compliance with current waste disposal/handling/transportation in accordance with the SOP/PWS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in full service or institutional waste management service environment 
  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers and other personnel 
  • Ability to consistently arrive punctually and contribute to positive work atmosphere
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally


  • Fluency in a foreign language


Willingness to live and work under environmental and other conditions that may be uncomfortable at times
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Requires periods of non-traditional hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary
May require ability to lift/and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
