JOB DESCRIPTION

SOSi is seeking a Waste Management Truck Driver for our current contract located on Camp Taji, Iraq.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Safely operate waste collection vehicles on specified routes to collect solid waste
Operate all equipment in a safe and efficient way complying with all relevant policies and procedures
Conduct daily safety and maintenance checks; Clean trucks as scheduled and required
Competently adhere to a scheduled and authorized modified route as required and service each location identified on the service sheet or assigned by the supervisor
Assure trucks and equipment is safely and securely stored
Report malfunctions and repaired requirements to a supervisor
Collect solid waste, waste water and services portable latrine on daily routes
Maintain routing sequence and driver records such us dispatch papers and other safety driving documents
Train new drivers on residential routes
Often work as a swing driver to cover other driver’s routes when on vacation or sick days
Operate vehicle in accordance with safety policies and procedures
Performs inspections of vehicle and completes inspection report
Follows route assignment as directed and completely removes all waste at customer's locations
Notifies Route Manager of any incidents, accidents, injuries or property damage
Maintain and update daily service records
Operate Side and Rear load garbage trucks, Waste Water Collection vehicle, Portable Latrine service vehicle, depending on  assignment
Operate and maintain waste water suction pumps
Ascertain that proper safety gear is donned, to avoid sicknesses and contamination
Provide customers with information on what's acceptable and what is not when approached

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid home-country Class A/B CDL
  • Able to perform and document pre and post trip inspections
  • HAZMAT endorsement preferred, but not required
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in full service or institutional transportation/waste service environment
  • Waste collection/disposal experience preferred, but not required
  • Excellent English communication skills and ability to interact effectively with customers and other personnel
  • Ability to consistently arrive punctually and contribute to positive work atmosphere
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluency in a foreign language
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Willingness to live and work under environmental and other conditions that may be uncomfortable at times
Personnel should be aware of moving on short notice and under adverse conditions
Requires periods of non-traditional hours including consecutive nights or weekends when necessary
May require ability to lift/and or move objects or packages of up to 25 lbs.
